Description
Nitrogen is our first bio-based IEM. Using a unique lamination of a custom-developed cotton-based pulp and polyethyl ethyl ketone based carrier, this IEM has the “flattest” measured response of any of our units. For those seeking a more dry sound, this is it!
Nitrogen is also 16 Ohms; we needed the extra sensitivity due to the heavier mass of the diaphragm. Combined with our N48H based magnet structure, and reworked front transducer housing, the result is very good sensitivity with plenty of output when needed.
Nitrogen is perfect for those craving vocals, acoustic work, and spoken word. It’s not a bass monster, but it’s not bass shy, either! Consider it a refined bookshelf in a land of dominant floor-standers. Exacting, detailed, intimate. Add our Ag Silver Cable to really complete the full audiophile experience!
Nerd Layer
Plastic housings? What about metal?
Simply put: metal sucks. What do you make bells out of? Metal! And metal is heavy, conducts a lot of heat (or cold), and is expensive. It’s a bad choice for audio and comfort, but it does look pretty. Thankfully, we don’t sell jewelry…
So we looked for the best plastic we can use. A 3 year research project (that actually resulted in published papers at scientific conferences) found the best material: a specific blend of Eastman Chemicals’ Tritan™ copolymer. This material proved to be not just rigid, but acoustically dead with lower energy storage and transmission than the polycarbonate we were using. Stray resonance and noise is lowered even more.
We also refined the external and internal geometry to make it more anti-resonant, so clarity is increased alongside the improvements of the materials used. The result is the most stable, lowest resonant IEM enclosure ever made. All with the lowest weight enclosure possible.
I See a Detachable Cable? What’s That About?
We have also developed our own 2.5mm jack: the IDEEL connector. This connector is the world’s smallest 2.5mm jack, measuring just 3.6mm across, and a tiny 9.5mm mounting depth. This jack allows us to use the very robust 2.5mm TS plug in our tiny IEMs. No more delicate MMCX or difficult 2 pin plastic connectors needed.
